Obituary
Marjorie Ellen Whiting was born September 20, 1927 to Ora Prewett and Matatha Boulware in Phelps County, Missouri. She passed away on June 29, 2016 at Quail Creek Skilled Nursing Facility in Springfield, MO.

She spent her early childhood on the family farm with her parents and two sisters. The family moved to Rolla, MO when Marge was in elementary school and later moved to Kansas City, MO where Marge attended and graduated from Central High School in 1946.

Marge met her husband of 69 years while working at Manor Bakery in Kansas City. They had two daughters Katherine Sue and Debra Jo. She worked as a bookkeeper for Puritan-Bennett Company in Kansas City. Joe and Marge retired to Osceola in 1976 where they built a home on Highway T and lived for 38 years.

In the fall of 2014, ill health forced them to move to an assisted living facility in Springfield, MO. She was busy in her community during her retirement. She was a member of the Tuesday Club, Eastern Star, served on the Osceola Public Library Board as treasurer for a number of years. Marge also worked at the Clothes Closet and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends each week.

Marge and Joe were members of the Vista Methodist Church where she baked many pies over the years for the annual Patty Pig Supper held at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Fern Giesler and Eva Powell.

Survivors include her husband Joe Whiting of Springfield, MO, two daughters, Katherine Lewman of Blue Springs, MO and Debra Cates of Fair Grove, MO, three grandchildren, Lyndsey Dunn of Overland Park, KS, Jeremiah Bridges of Marshfield, MO Lizabeth White of Lee’s Summit, MO and six great grandchildren, Thomas Dunn, Nicholas Dunn, Joseph Dunn, Caroline Dunn, Gabrian Bridges and Sirion Bridges. We her family will deeply miss her and love her always.
