Melvin Edward Stewart was born July 16, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to Glen Stewart and Lena (Hodgett) Stewart. He passed away July 1, 2015 at his home in Clinton, Missouri.
At the age of ten he moved with his family to the Chalk Level area of St. Clair County. Melvin completed the 8th grade in Chalk Level.
He honorably served his country in the United States Marines from 1958 to 1962 .
On July 14th of 1962 he was united in marriage to Lois Stoneking. Melvin and Lois moved to the Urich area in 1976. He worked for several different companies as a machinist.
Melvin loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings. He loved his time serving the city of Urich as an Alderman and Mayor along with his dogs Dolly and Molly. Melvin is preceded in death by his wife Lois Stewart and siblings, Dorthey Hill, Athlene Shepard and Earnest Stewart.

He is survived by his son Glen and wife Stacy of Urich, Missouri; daughter, Cindy Neff and husband Doug of Clinton, Missouri; grandchildren, Billy Tschudi and wife Ashley, Heather Boggs and husband Alan, Logan Stewart, Melissa Close and husband Roger and Haley Stewart; great grandchildren, Morgen and Case Tschudi, Hunter Close and Aiden Boggs, other relatives and many friends.
