Carolyn “Jean” Suyderhoud, 72, Osceola, Missouri was called home Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. Carolyn was born February 24, 1943 to Maurice and Doris Scott. She grew up in Benton County, MO and Raytown, MO. She was a 1961 graduate of Raytown High School.
Carolyn was united in marriage to Richard W. Suyderhoud on November 15, 1968, in Kansas City. She had lived in Kansas City before “retiring” to her original homestead in Benton County. In 2000, Carolyn received her Doctorate in Theology. Carolyn served three terms on the Board of Trustees for the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. She was a board member for the Children and Family Ministries as well as The LIGHT House, in Kansas City. Carolyn also worked at Benton County Hospice where she served as Chaplain, Grief Counselor and office volunteer. Carolyn was active in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Outreach Group which she helped create. Carolyn had a gift for making beautiful cards, most of which she donated to Benton County Hospice and Cedar Grove Outreach group.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, Richard Suyderhoud of the home; two daughters; Angela Higgins, and husband Todd, Shawnee, KS; Becky Bontrager, and husband Jeff, Wichita, KS; a son, David Eidson, and wife Melissa, Fallbrook, CA; her mother, Doris Scott, Cottonwood, AZ; a brother, Roger Scott, Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, Evan Higgins, Kayla Bontrager, Blade Bontrager, Callie Eidson, Caden Eidson, Chandra Eidson and Ambria Eidson.
