Robert Ellsworth Mallett was born February 19, 1942 in Little Blue, Missouri to Roy Ellsworth and Laura (Beals) Mallett. He left his earthly home on July 7, 2013 in a fire that destroyed our home. Our beloved little dogs, Freckles and Duke went with him.
Robert graduated from Wm. Chriswman High School in 1960 and joined the Army soon after. He served his country a little over 6 years during the Vietnam Era stationed in Korea and around the United States.
In 1966 he returned to Independence, Missouri where he worked at a variety of different jobs until 1968 when he joined the Ironworkers Union, local #10 and worked 35 years as an ironworker then retired to become an over the road driver. He then started a local handyman service which remained his occupation. On September 19, 1975 he married the love of his life, Danielle Braun Shook. He joined the Jackson County Sheriffs posse and served actively with them until late 1978 when we moved to Osceola.
Soon after moving to Osceola he volunteered to serve as fire chief for the Dallas Township Volunteer Fire Department until it was disbanded.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters; Willa Mae Lawless, Frances Biermaier and Mary Carson and 1 brother; Roy Jerome (Jerry) Mallett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Danielle Brown Mallett; daughters, Laura Williams and Christine Mallett; Son, Robert Ellsworth Mallett II and 2 step-sons, L. Scott Mallett and William Shook II, whom he loved and accepted as his own; 11 grandchildren, Clint Williams, Derek Mallett, Justin Mallett, Craig Shook-Powell, Robert Mallett III, Shaun Mallett, Joseph Medina, Elizabeth Mallett, Carl Shook-Gilstrap, Angelea Shook-Gilstrap and Kamron Shook; 1 brother, Charles (Erma) Mallett; 1 sister, Norma Marks and 3 sister-in-laws, Denise Brown Davis (Bud), Ina Brown Hess (John) and Ila Brown Duvall (Roger)
