Myrtle Malvina Winn Howe was born on January 16, 1916 to Thomas Dawson and Eliza Hearn Winn. Myrtle was the seventh of eleven children. She passed away on December 22, 2011 at Community Springs Healthcare in El Dorado Springs, Missouri
In 1939 she married James Russell Howe. They had one daughter Linda Sue. She worked for Shelby’s Five and Dime in the 50’s and 60’s. Her membership in the Osceola Christian Church was very important to her. She served as treasurer of Sunday School for over 50 years. When the Corp of Engineers bought the church, she was one of the 5 women asked to help raise money for the new church. She was the last surviving member of the committee.
She was a great cook and loved doing it for her family. Her favorites were frying fish and gooseberry cobblers. She liked to sew and garden as well.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Russell; parents Tom and Eliza Winn; brothers Oakley, Amos, Riley and a baby brother; sisters Ethel Winn, Zora Ferguson, Frona Kemp, Burnace Murphy, Beulah Snyder and Mabel Harris.
She is survived by her daughter Linda; grandsons Jeff and Chad McFarland; great grandchildren Justin and Hailey McFarland; brother-in-law Robert Harris; 15 nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her and loved her.
