Shirley Ann Fergerson, 75, was born Februay 17, 1936 in Platte City, Missouri to Willy Raymond and Nora Hazel (Coke) Murphy. She passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Truman Lake Manor.
Shirley graduated from El Dorado Springs High School, moved to Kansas City and married Billy Lee Fergerson in 1956.
She fully dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior in the mid 60’s. She was instrumental in the birth of Grain Valley Assembly of God Church in her home. She always loved gardening and canning. In her later years she enjoyed flowers and watching birds. She would challenge anyone to a game of Skip-Bo. You never wanted to bother her during Wheel of Fortune. She ran several restaurants. She enjoyed making quilts and other crafts. She loved her grandchildren very much.
Shirley raised her children according to Proverbs 22:6. Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it. Her favorite verse was “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint”—Isaiah 40:31
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Joe Murphy, Robert Murphy, Willy Murphy and Buck Murphy.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Jack Murphy and wife Judy; four children Charles Raymond Fergerson and wife Jennifer, their son Gage, Dianna Lynne Jones and husband Steve, their two daughters, Natasha and Ben Ochieng and Stephanie Jones, Danny Lee Fergerson and wife Amanda, their 4 children David Fergerson and wife Racheal, Katelynn Martinez and husband Juan, Kathryn Fergerson and Kenny Fergerson, Randall Keith Fergerson and wife Marlieta, daughter Moriah Fergerson; 5 great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and many good friends.
