Dennis Eugene Smith was born September 27, 1941 in San Diego, CA, to Raymond C. and Elma L. (Cheney) Smith. He passed away September 13, 2010 in Colorado Springs, CO.
Dennis grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Washington High School in 1960. He attended the Colorado School of Mines and graduated from the University of Houston.
On March 16, 1996 in Houston, TX, Dennis was united in marriage to Fay (Fondren) Rosella.
Dennis worked for NASA, designed for the space shuttle, the Alaska Pipeline and built systems for oil production around the world. He retired from Siemens as a computer engineer. However, his mission work through his church, First Baptist Church, Houston, TX, was what meant the most to him. His work with the missions took him to many parts of the world.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond C. Smith in 1988. Dennis is survived by his wife and best friend, Fay, of the home, his mother, Elma Smith and brother, Darren Smith both of Collins, MO; one sister, Donna Brazel, Liberty, MO; two children, Stacy Ayers and husband Dale, Houston, TX, Michael Smith, Lamarque, TX, 4 stepsons, William Rosella, Anthony Rosella, James Rosella and Christopher Rosella, all of Houston, TX; grandson, Brandon Ayers, Houston, TX, granddaughters, Shana Ayers and Katie Bettis-Smith both of Houston, TX, four step grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
