Obituary
On September 30th 1949, in Colorado Springs Co. a joyous and loving light was born into this world. The youngest of four and only daughter of Wilmer and Doris Summers, Susan Lynette Hammond not only brought as much light, love, and happiness to her parents and brothers, as she did to her own husband children and grandchild, but to the rest of the world that knew her as well. Our world will be just a little darker now as this shining beacon of love has been extinguished and called to the Father on Saturday January 12th 2019.

This caring and loving lady will always be remembered as a loyal wife, as well as a caring and loving mother and grandmother. Susan spent much of her time with her children and granddaughter. Susan loved the outdoors, especially fishing and working in her flower beds.

The bonds that Susan shared with her children and granddaughter were nothing short of monumental. Susan loved her family and always put them before her own needs.

Preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, and father Wilmer and mother Doris, as well as two sister-in-laws, Janice and Glenda.

Susan will be especially missed by husband Carl Dean Hammond, two children, loving son Ronald James Hammond and doting daughter Rebecca Dean Toombs and Jonny Smith, and granddaughter Katie Sue Toombs, all of Weaubleau. As well as three brothers, Robert Summers of Independence, Jim and wife Pat Summers of Fort Scott Kansas, and Harold Summers of Osceola, including several nieces and one nephew. Susan absolutely loved and adored her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles "Buck" and Dorothy Garrett, of Sedalia. Known to many as just “mom”, there are countless others that will always remember her as such.

No funeral service was held per Susan's request. Susan will be laid to rest at King's Prairie Cemetery beside her father and mother. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2019.
