Obituary
Dale was born Feb 8, 1931 to Wayman Robert  and Mabel (Harness) Smith who preceded him in death and passed away on April 24, 2018 in Clinton, MO at the age of 87.

He grew up south of Urich Mo. and was a member of White Oak Methodist, later becoming a member of Clinton United Methodist Church.  Dale attended Clinton High School, graduating with the class of 1949. After high school he attended University of Missouri in Columbia Mo  playing baseball before enlisting in the United States Air Force.  

On December 9, 1951 he married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Harvey.  After serving 4 years, he returned home to spend the next 62 years working on the family farm.  Throughout the years he worked on the farm with his father, brother Warren Dee and sons Kurt and Ryan. 

Dale was an avid sports enthusiast. In high school and the Air Force he excelled in baseball and basketball.  After returning to Urich he continued to play baseball , softball, basketball, bowling and golf.  He was known  for his athletic abilities, and always focused on sportsmanship and giving 100% to any game he played.  The last several years he loved to compete and play golf with his friends and family at Meadow Lake Country Club where he was a charter member.  He was also a member of American Legion Post 371 Urich Mo for 50 plus years. 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jo Ann, brother Warren Dee Smith (Kathleen), Sister in law, Frances Harvey, sons Gary Smith, Kurt Smith (Debbie) , Ryan Smith (Jennifer) and daughter Kathy Charron. Also his grandchildren, Garrett Smith (Krystal) , Lana Jurgensmeyer (Brandon), Kristen Smith, Kali Read (Jordan) and Trent Smith.  He leaves behind 3 great grandchildren, Parker Smith, Baylor Jurgensmeyer and Adalynn Smith and many nieces  and nephews. 

Dale was a great family man and enjoyed a full life.  He will be missed by all.
