Nada Chiles Lyon, age 83, departed this earth in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 19, 2010, to enter into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Nada was born on July 5, 1926, near Lowry City, Missouri, the daughter of Will and Blanche Tullis Chiles.

As a young child she attended Park Grave Christian Church where she accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 11. She was baptized and was a member of Park Grove for many years. One of Nada’s favorite scripture passages was Psalm 23 which she memorized as a child.

Nada graduated from Lowry City High School at the age of 17. Eager to help her country during World War II, she went to Kansas City to work at the Pratt & Whitney defense plant until the end of the war.

On February 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert T. Lyon. This marriage was blessed by the birth of a son, Robert T. Lyon, Jr. As Bob made a career of the Air Force, he and Nada and Bobby traveled to many locations in the United States. They made several friendships along the way which they enjoyed throughout the years. Special military friends are Marjorie Farlow; Octavia Franklin, and J.D. and Hazel Yopp.

After retiring from the military, Bob, Nada and Bobby made their home in Lowry City, Missouri. Nada worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Stout in Appleton City for nine years. She was very active in her community serving on the city council for 13 years. She worked diligently to make improvements in her community. Nada was a faithful member of the Lowry City Methodist Church where she attended as long as her health permitted.

Nada was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents Will and Blanche Chiles; two brothers, Clifford Chiles and Strieby Chiles; four sisters Wilma Moree, Eva Nichols, Dorathy Schmidli and Kathleen Thompson; sister-in-law, Geraldine Simpson.

She is survived by her son Robert T. Lyon Jr.; three grandsons Jeffrey Lyon; Christopher Lyon and wife Shannon; Sam Lyon and wife Whitney; three great-grandchildren Kylei Brooke Lyon, Summer Jane Lyon, and Coleman Robert Lyon; one great great-grandson, Layne Allen Schuster. Nada will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful Christian woman who showed concern for her family and friends. She had a keen sense of humor which she maintained to the end. Her great faith and a spirit of determination carried her through life, especially the last few months. Her life was an inspiration to others.
